Today, Dec 21st, is the 16th anniversary of closing on my current house.

On Dec. 21st, 1992, I did two closings: one for the sale of my old house; then for the purchase of my current house.

The insurance guy for the buyer of my old house messed up a document and we couldn't do a proper closing until the guy was found (he was out of his one-man office for the morning). Once faxed a corrected document, we were able to execute the closing. And the guy.
This problem delayed both closings by several hours. The first closing was done in downtown Chicago, the second was in Wheaton which was 30-odd miles away.

The moral of this story is do only ONE closing per day.

I moved into the new house on the next day (the 22nd). The cats were annoyed as they were locked in an empty room, with their beds, food, water and litter boxes, so they wouldn't go nuts while the movers did their thing.

Once the move was complete, I let the cats out to explore the new house. Basil refused to come out of his carrier until the next day (he was cat-a-tonic). Baldric explored the the house with me.

On the next day (23rd), the telephone and cable TV installers arrived to hook up my service. Also Sears delivered my new washer and dryer.
